Moab Tower safari's
The tower adventure is what desert rock climbing is all about. It’s the whole adventure package.
Navigate a 4W drive road out into the desert. Find your way up a tricky off the beaten path approach. It’s the alpine climb of the desert rock world.
These are the kinds of climbs are memorable quests. Try a classic route or a journey out to a less traveled summit.
Trips range 1-3 days and we can focus on larger towers that are 3-5 pitches or on the sampler platter of 3-4 mini towers.
There are so many towers and so many ways to go about having a good adventure in the desert it’s hard to know where to start. These programs are typically fully custom and built to fit your goals. Plan on getting on a phone call and talking about how we can make the most out of your time in the desert.
For advanced climbers who have a grasp of diverse crack climbing skills the sky is the limit. There are a wide variety of linkups on the mega towers. These are the 400-600 foot tall monsters composed on big blocks of windgate. These routes often require competency with 5.10 crack climbing in all the sizes from fingers to chimney and are often 3-6 pitches in length.
If you don’t have a lot of millage with those more esoteric climbing techniques we still have a really cool 2-3 day series of towers that are very approachable for climbers who are more accustomed to 5.8 and 5.9 climbing gym routes. These routes will still test your tolerance for exposure but are often more in the 1-2 pitch lengths and don’t require a ton of crack climbing skill.
In addition to the towers themselves the desert provides a ton of other opportunities for cool adventures from canyons, to rope swings to just some really cool single pitch rock climbing. It can be great to add on a day of crack climbing skills training before the tower routes or do a rest day exploring a canyon descent.
Get in touch and lets talk about what we can built for you.
Day 1: Half Day Warm Up Climbs
A big part of tower climbing is good crack climbing technique. Depending on where your experience is with this it’s often worth doing a half day session when you first get into town to warm up the jamming techniques.
Day 2: Mini tower Bonanza
There are the massive windgate towers that often reach 400-600 feet in height but there are also countless mini towers one to two pitches in height. These can be a great way to get a ton of fun millage and explore some off the beaten paths areas of the desert without the big approach hikes and committed routes on the mega towers.
Day 3: Mega Tower
These big routes with big approaches wear a lot of people out. Often it’s worth building up to them. Of course if you’re ready for it we could always just climb three of the big ones in a day!
Guest Cancellations
If you cancel your reservation before the three-month balance due date, a refund less the deposit and processing fees will be issued. For custom or private trips, if one or more members of your group cancel, resulting in a smaller team and a lower guest-to-guide ratio, the remaining members agree to pay the adjusted, higher cost per person associated with that lower ratio.
If you cancel after the balance due date—or if you are prevented from participating after the balance due date due to exigent circumstances such as injury, illness, a family emergency, or travel delays—no refund will be given. Because of this strict policy, we strongly advise purchasing comprehensive trip insurance.
Cancellations or Changes by the Guide
All expeditions are subject to inherent mountain hazards including, but not limited to, inclement weather, avalanche hazards, route conditions, and individual fitness levels. We reserve the right to modify the location or itinerary of any trip as necessary to mitigate risk. No refunds will be issued for itinerary changes resulting from weather, mountain conditions, or circumstances affecting your group (such as fitness and technical ability).
In the unlikely event that we are forced to cancel a trip due to inadequate booking, guide cancellation, or any other internal reason, a full refund of the trip cost will be given. In such cases, please note that we are not responsible for personal expenses incurred in connection with the trip, including airfare, car rentals, or equipment purchases.
Trip & Rescue Insurance
We highly recommend purchasing a comprehensive Trip Cancellation, Interruption, and Emergency Evacuation insurance policy. This protects your investment if you need to cancel after the balance due date, are prevented from participating due to unforeseen emergencies, or require an emergency evacuation in the field. Recommended providers include:
Global Rescue
Travel Guard
Travelex Insurance
