We can transition from building foundational movement on the steep, bolted sport routes of Clear Creek and Boulder Canyon, to navigating the complex, historic traditional lines of Eldorado Canyon, or trying out multiptich climbing for your first time on the Flatirons.

This unrivaled access means we spend less time hiking and more time maximizing your learning. Whether you’re learning foundational systems, or you’re a seasoned mountain athlete looking to refine your multi-pitch transitions for bigger alpine objectives, Boulder provides the perfect terrain to build a safe, sustainable progression. It is the perfect environment to bring a trusted mentor onto your team and get the knowledge you need for wherever the mountains take you next.

Boulder Canyon Granite

Castle Rock

This venue is high up the canyon almost to Nederland and tends to stay a little cooler in the summer heat.  It has amazing options for classic hard trad climbs in the 5.9-5.12 range as well as some really fun moderate multiptich routes in the 5.7 range.  Castle rock is one of the best crags in Boulder Canyon.

The Dome

The dome is right in the entrance to Boulder Canyon and provides comfortable morning shade and a short approach.  It’s a great place for a morning half day.  It’s a great venue for learning multipitch climbing fundamentals or for a multipitch adventure if you are new to climbing.

Nip and Tuck

This area is where we like to go for training.  It provides an excellent clean face and top area to practice fundamental skills like self rescue and rappelling.

Eldorado Canyon

“Eldo” is hallowed ground. Known for its sheer sandstone walls, complex route-finding, and historic lines, this is where we build the true foundation of traditional climbing and alpinism. The climbing here demands respect, precise footwork, and a solid head. It’s the ultimate proving ground for those looking to become safe, contributing members of a roped team in bigger mountains.

  • Wind Ridge (5.6, 4 pitches): A quintessential introduction to Eldo. With fun face climbing and a spectacular traversing pitch on the Wind Tower, it’s an ideal route for us to assess your skills, practice traditional gear removal, and get comfortable with Eldo’s unique, intricate style.

  • The Bastille Crack (5.7, 5 pitches): One of America’s great classic climbs. Standing right off the road, it offers 350 feet of steep, varied crack and face climbing. It’s an incredible line to refine your crack technique and experience world-class exposure.

  • Rewritten (5.7, 6 pitches): Featuring chimneys, airy arêtes, cracks, and traverses, this classic throws a bit of everything at you. It’s a masterclass in varied mountain movement and rope management.

Clear Creak Canyon

Clear Creek Canyon is a phenomenal venue for building technical skills and getting a lot of rock under your fingertips. Characterized by steep gneiss and well-protected sport routes, it’s the perfect place to focus on climbing movement, anchor building, and multi-pitch transitions without the added stress of placing traditional gear.

  • Playin’ Hooky (5.8, 4 pitches): An undisputed canyon classic and a perfect introduction to multi-pitch climbing. We use this featured, low-angle slab route to help you build confidence in vertical environments and dial in your belay station management.
  • People’s Choice (5.10d, 3 pitches): For those looking to push their grades and learn steeper, more sustained movement, this route offers beautiful dihedral stemming and fantastic exposure. It’s a great test piece to build the pulling power and endurance required for harder mountain objectives.

Flatirons

You can’t talk about Boulder without mentioning the Flatirons. These massive, sweeping sandstone slabs rising above Chautauqua Park are the ultimate training ground for moving fast and light. In big alpine environments, efficiency is safety. The Flatirons allow us to practice moving safely over hundreds of feet of moderate terrain.

  • The First Flatiron, Direct East Face (5.6, 10 pitches): A true 1,000-foot adventure right out our back door. We’ll link pitches, manage rope drag, and learn how to maintain momentum on a long, committing route with spectacular views of the Continental Divide.

  • The Third Flatiron, Direct East Face (5.4, 8 pitches): Often called the best beginner multi-pitch climb in the country. It’s long, cruiser slab climbing that rewards trust in your feet. It’s a fantastic objective for beginners looking for a big summit, or experienced climbers wanting to practice simul-climbing and advanced alpine rope systems.
